Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

The "Debo Too" is docked at the Moorings Marina in Carrabelle on Florida's panhandle.  From Tallahassee or Panama City, it's about an hour's drive on scenic US Hwy 98.  From Atlanta, it's about a five-and-a-half-hour drive.  From Apalachicola it's 30 minutes, and from St. George Island, 20 minutes.  If you're flying into Florida, you can choose Bay County International (Panama City) or Tallahassee Regional Airport.  To see where we're located in relation to Tallahassee and/or the State of Florida, click on the map below.

What do I need to bring on the trip?

You should bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat and any beverages or food you wish to consume while on board.  Your tackle, the bait and plenty of hungry, aggressive fish are supplied.  At least a 40-quart cooler should be brought to hold the fish you are going to catch.  Also, don't forget your camera or camcorder!

What should I wear?

Remember we are called the Sunshine State.  If your charter is planned for the late Spring, Summer or early Fall months make sure you have cool, comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.  You may want to have a windbreaker or light sweater/jacket, as well as sunscreen, sunglasses, and any medicines you must take.  If your charter is in Winter, you may want to consider a little heavier clothing, and it's always wise to have a complete change of clothing with you in case you get wet.

Do you have a restroom on board?

Yes!  There is also a place to change clothes.

When is the best time to schedule a charter?

Anytime is good, but it's best when you have time not only to fish, but also to enjoy the beauty of the Forgotten Coast.  Technically our season is all year, but we do have downtime for  maintenance from mid-December through the end of February.

Where can I stay and dine?

The Moorings Marina has excellent accommodations, and several great restaurants are in the immediate vicinity.  The Moorings' phone number is 850-697-2800.

Should I make reservations and how far in advance should they be made?

Reservations are strongly recommended as far in advance as practical. Seventy percent (70%) of my clients are repeat customers who have fished with me for years.  Some people reserve their special day as much as a year in advance; however, "last minute" calls are welcomed, and we try to accommodate all requests.

How do I make reservations and pay the deposit?

Reservations should be made as far in advance as possible.  Call me on our toll-free line, 800-897-7106, or email me at:  Charlie@CaptainCharliesCharters.Com.

What if bad weather makes it impossible to go fishing?

There are times when King Neptune does not wish to cooperate.  On those rare occasions when the weather is too bad to set sail, I'll do my best to reschedule your charter.  If rescheduling is impossible, your deposit will be returned.

Do I have to buy a fishing license?

There is no license required while you are on my charter.

Where do you fish?

Within 30 minutes of leaving the dock, we will be in the open  waters of the Gulf of Mexico off the Forgotten Coast.  You will be able to see Dog Island, St. George Island and Alligator Point.  The exact fishing area is wherever the fish are biting that day.

Can my children come on the trip?

The short answer is, yes, if they are at least 8 years old.  I have taught hundreds of kids to fish, onshore and offshore.  My experience is that children younger than 8 are usually true landlubbers.  I know each child is unique, but a distressed or uncomfortable child keeps parents and others from having a great time.  So please plan to leave the little fishes at home and come catch the big ones!
